Magellanic Penguin - Budapest Zoo
Penguins are a group of aquatic, flightless birds living almost exclusively in the southern hemisphere, especially in Antarctica. Highly adapted for life in the water, penguins have countershaded dark and white plumage, and their wings have become flippers.
They spend about half of their life on land and half in the oceans.
The Magellanic Penguin, (Spheniscus magellanicus), is a South American penguin, breeding in coastal Argentina, Chile and the Falkland Islands, with some migrating to Brazil.
Magellanic Penguins are medium-sized penguins which grow to be 61-76 cm tall and weigh between 2.7 kg and 6.5 kg.
